After graduating the U.S. Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Wayne Colton trained as a communications and computer systems engineering officer. Wayne then served in a special projects branch of Air Force Intelligence Command as a special projects program manager providing command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (“C4I”) support for the development and operation of U.S. space vehicles.

On separating from active duty, Wayne served in reserve assignments to the U.S. Air Force Academy and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, while also employed by Trident Data Systems – a special projects defense contractor devoted to U.S. government programs and operations. Wayne completed his military service as a Captain of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

During this time, Wayne undertook graduate studies at The University of Texas at San Antonio in Electrical Engineering, Management, and Economics. Wayne then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he received his law degree. In October 2017, Wayne founded Wayne J. Colton, Inc., a Texas firm initially focused on U.S. and international patent prosecution.

Wayne has since long specialized in matters of patents, trademarks and copyrights during the 26 years he has operated Wayne J. Colton, Inc. as a private law firm, developing expertise in all facets of intellectual property law and many related areas of practice.
